Het wordt in de radiusarm geperst bij het binnenste bevestigingsoog, waar de arm aan het chassis is bevestigd. De radiusarm regelt de voor- en achterwaartse positie van de achternaaf tijdens het remmen en accelereren, en dit rubber isoleert dat gewricht terwijl de arm kan draaien tijdens de veerweg. Het gevulkaniseerde rubberen element absorbeert wegschokken en bepaalt de compliantie van de bevestiging; wanneer het versleten is, krijgt de arm speling, waardoor de as voor- en achterwaarts kan verschuiven en er een klopgeluid, vaag rijgedrag of onregelmatige bandenslijtage ontstaat.
