Het glas past over de achterlichtbehuizing om de eenheid af te dichten en de stop-, achter- en richtingaanwijzeruitgangen te kleuren. Het wordt aan de lamphouder bevestigd die op de achterste carrosserie is gemonteerd en wordt vervangen wanneer het glas gebarsten, vervaagd of verkleurd is, in plaats van de complete lamp te vernieuwen.
