De zuiger werkt binnen de boring van de remklauw en brengt hydraulische druk van de remvloeistof over op het remblok, waardoor het blok tegen de schijf wordt gedrukt om remkracht te genereren. Deze wordt in de boring vastgehouden door de remklauwzuigerkeerring en beschermd door de stofkap.

The STC1918Z front brake caliper piston transmits hydraulic pressure onto the brake pad, forcing it against the disc to produce braking. It runs in the caliper bore, sealed by the piston seal and protected by the dust boot, on the front brakes of the listed Discovery and Range Rover models.
How many pistons are needed for a front caliper?
This piston is sold each. Front calipers on the Discovery 2, 3 and 4 and Range Rover typically hold more than one piston per caliper, so count the bores in yours before ordering. Renewing all pistons and seals in a caliper together is usually best practice.
Why does a brake caliper piston fail?
Caliper pistons typically fail through surface corrosion or pitting, or a torn dust boot letting moisture in, which causes sticking, drag, or fluid leaks. On the listed Discovery and Range Rover models a seizing piston often shows as uneven pad wear or a pull under braking.
Does this fit all Range Rover L322 and Discovery 3 models?
Fitment has VIN limits. On the Range Rover L322 it covers 2002 to 2009, 4.4L V8 petrol and 3.0L diesel, to VIN 9A999999, and Discovery 3 up to VIN 9A999999. Check your VIN against these breaks, since later facelift brakes differ.
