Genuine Part
Genuine: Original manufacturer part. This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Visco unit bearing do?
The Visco unit bearing supports the viscous coupling unit (VCU) on the Freelander 1 rear propshaft. It locates the coupling so it spins smoothly while drive passes through the VCU to the rear axle, keeping the four-wheel-drive driveline running true.
How many Visco unit bearings are needed?
A bearing sits on each side of the viscous coupling, so they're normally renewed as a pair. Replacing both at once means they wear evenly and saves stripping the driveline twice. Many owners also inspect or renew the VCU while the assembly is apart.
What are the signs of a worn Visco unit bearing?
A worn Visco unit bearing typically shows as driveline whine and vibration that gets worse under load. Because it sits in the drive path to the rear axle, a failing bearing can add drag and stress the VCU, so it's worth addressing promptly.
Which Freelander 1 models does this bearing fit?
This bearing fits the Freelander 1 from 1997 to 2006 with any four-cylinder engine. For the 2.5L KV6, it fits from VIN 1A000001 to 1A344953. Check your engine and, for the KV6, your VIN against that range before ordering.
