Frequently asked questions

What is this parking sensor?
This is the ultrasonic transducer for the Parking Distance Control (PDC) system, a straight-bodied type with an in-line connector that mounts through the rear bumper cover. It sends an ultrasonic burst and listens for the echo, which the parking aid module converts into an obstacle distance and audible warning.
Why does one failed sensor affect the whole system?
The sensors work as an array, so a single failed or water-ingressed transducer can degrade or disable the whole parking aid. Faults are diagnosed to the individual sensor rather than the system, so identifying and replacing the affected one usually restores full operation.
How is this sensor fitted?
The sensor is a push-fit into a retaining collar bonded to the bumper cover. Note the fitted orientation before removing the old one, and keep the transducer face clear of paint, wax or road film, since a coated face weakens the ultrasonic signal and shortens detection range.
Which models does this parking sensor fit?
This sensor fits the Discovery 3 (rear bumper), Freelander 1 from VIN 4A000001 (rear bumper), and Range Rover Sport L320 (front and rear bumper). The alternative code YDB500300PMAG covers a related variant, so confirm the straight body type matches your bumper before ordering.
