Receiver Dryer for the air conditioning system, compatible with R134a refrigerant.

Installed on the high-pressure side of the A/C circuit, between the condenser and the expansion valve. The receiver dryer filters the refrigerant and contains a desiccant bed that absorbs moisture, preventing ice formation in the expansion valve and protecting compressor seals and internal components.

The desiccant is moisture-sensitive: do not open the packaging until the unit is ready for installation.

Frequently asked questions

What does the A/C receiver dryer do?
The receiver dryer filters the refrigerant and holds a desiccant bed that absorbs moisture, preventing ice forming in the expansion valve and protecting the compressor. It sits on the high-pressure side, between the condenser and the expansion valve. This unit suits R134a systems.
Which models and VIN ranges does this receiver dryer fit?
This R134a receiver dryer fits Discovery 1 (1989-1998) with A/C, VINs FA393361 to WA799999, and Range Rover Classic (1992-1994) petrol with A/C from VIN JA610294. Check your VIN to confirm, as it applies to air-conditioned models only.
When should the receiver dryer be replaced?
The receiver dryer is typically replaced whenever the A/C system is opened for repair, or after it has lost charge and drawn in moisture. The desiccant saturates over time and after exposure to air, so it's usually renewed as part of any A/C overhaul.
Is there anything to watch when fitting the receiver dryer?
Keep the receiver dryer sealed in its packaging until you're ready to install it. The desiccant inside is moisture-sensitive and starts absorbing water from the air once exposed, which reduces its effectiveness. Fit it promptly once opened and have the system evacuated properly.
