The clutch transmits drive from the engine to the gearbox and is disengaged by the release mechanism to allow gear changes. This kit comprises the clutch cover (pressure plate) and the driven (friction) plate, and is supplied without the release bearing.

What is the DA5552 clutch kit and what does it include?
The DA5552 is a heavy-duty clutch kit for the 200TDi and 300TDi diesel engines, supplied as the clutch cover (pressure plate) and the driven friction plate. It is the less-bearing version, so no release bearing is included. It fits the Defender, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic.
Why is there no release bearing in this kit?
The DA5552 leaves out the release bearing for buyers who already have a new one or are reusing a good bearing. If you need the bearing too, the DA5551 kit includes the cover, plate and release bearing together. Renewing the bearing with the clutch is usually recommended.
Do I need to renew the release bearing anyway?
Renewing the release bearing whenever the clutch is replaced is usually the safe choice, since reaching it again means splitting the gearbox from the engine. If your bearing is worn or noisy, fit a new one rather than reusing it with the fresh DA5552 cover and plate.
