Radiator Top Hose for the 2.5L 300 TDi 4-Cylinder Turbo Diesel engine cooling system.

This hose connects the engine coolant outlet at the thermostat housing to the upper inlet of the radiator, carrying hot coolant from the engine to be cooled. Replace at the first sign of swelling, cracking, or softness. Renewal is recommended whenever the cooling system is drained or the thermostat is replaced.

What does the ESR2298 radiator top hose do?
The ESR2298 radiator top hose carries hot coolant from the thermostat housing at the top of the 300Tdi engine into the top of the radiator. It's the outlet side of the cooling circuit, so it sees the highest coolant temperatures and full system pressure.
Which vehicles does this top hose fit?
The ESR2298 top hose fits the Defender from 1987 to 2006 with the 2.5 litre 300Tdi diesel. It's a moulded hose, so the bends and length match the original routing from the thermostat housing to the radiator. This is the top hose, not the bottom radiator hose.
When should the radiator top hose be replaced?
Replace the top hose when it feels soft, spongy or swollen, shows cracking near the clamp ends, or weeps coolant. On 300Tdi Defenders the hoses harden with age and heat cycling, and a burst top hose dumps coolant fast enough to overheat the engine. Many owners change both hoses together.
