The main bearings form the pressure-fed running surfaces between the crankshaft journals and the cylinder block and main bearing caps, locating the crankshaft in the block. Renewed as a set during bottom-end overhaul.

Supplied in standard size. A crankshaft that has been reground requires the corresponding undersize bearings.

No. GA5121 is for the 2.4L TDCi Puma engine only, built 2007 to 2011. It does not fit the later 2.2 TDCi Defender (2012-2016) or the earlier Td5 and 300Tdi engines, since bearing dimensions differ between these engines.
When do main bearings need replacing?
