Transfer Box - New Venture NVG225, the transfer case mounted behind the automatic transmission and driving the front and rear propshafts.

It splits drive between both axles for permanent four-wheel drive and provides selectable high and low range output ratios. Drive is taken from the rear output shaft through an internal drive chain to the front output shaft - chain wear is the usual cause of a skipping or rattling noise under load.

Used with the 5-speed automatic transmission.

Frequently asked questions

What is the IAB000033E transfer box used for?
The IAB000033E is a New Venture NVG225 transfer case fitted behind the automatic transmission on the Range Rover L322. It splits drive between the front and rear axles for permanent four-wheel drive and provides selectable high and low range.
Which Range Rover engines use the NVG225 transfer box?
The NVG225 pairs with the 5-speed Steptronic automatic on the 2002-2009 Range Rover L322, fitted to both the M57 3.0-litre diesel and the M62 4.4-litre V8 petrol.
Why does the NVG225 transfer box develop noise on the L322?
A skipping or rattling noise under load on the NVG225 typically points to wear in the internal drive chain that carries power from the rear output shaft to the front output shaft. It's the most common failure point on this transfer case.
