Valve Stem Seal for the cylinder head of the 2.0L four-cylinder T-Series MPi petrol engine.

The seal fits over the valve stem at the top of the valve guide, beneath the valve spring, and meters the oil allowed to pass down the guide. A hardened or split seal lets oil be drawn past the guide into the port and combustion chamber, showing as oil consumption and blue exhaust smoke.

The valve stem seal fits the Discovery 1 2.0L MPi T-Series petrol engine, sealing each valve stem where it passes through the cylinder head. It controls the small amount of oil reaching the valve guide and combustion chamber.
How many valve stem seals do I need?
Valve stem seals are fitted one per valve, so a complete job on the T-Series engine uses a full set matching the engine's valve count. They're usually replaced all together while the head is accessible.
What happens when valve stem seals wear out?
Worn valve stem seals let oil seep past the valve guides, causing blue smoke on start-up or under deceleration and raised oil consumption. Replacing them restores oil control on the Discovery 1 T-Series engine.
Does this valve stem seal fit any Discovery 1?
This seal fits the Discovery 1 from 1989 to 1998 with the 2.0L four-cylinder MPi T-Series petrol engine only. It doesn't suit the V8 or diesel Discovery 1 variants.
