Intercooler for the turbocharger charge-air circuit on Td5 and Puma TDCi diesel engines.

Mounted in the airflow ahead of the radiator, the intercooler receives compressed air from the turbocharger outlet and cools it before it passes to the inlet manifold. Lowering the charge temperature raises air density, which improves combustion efficiency and keeps inlet temperatures within the range the engine management expects.

When diagnosing loss of boost or high inlet temperatures, inspect the core for oil contamination, internal restriction and impact damage. Renew any perished charge-air hoses and clips at the same time.
