Brand Autotec Components
Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor for the pre-catalyst position in the exhaust after-treatment system of the 2.2L Puma TDCi diesel engine.

Installed upstream of the catalyst, it reports exhaust gas temperature to the engine control module, which uses the reading to manage diesel particulate filter regeneration and protect the after-treatment components from overheating. Fitted with an orange connector to distinguish it from the other temperature sensors in the exhaust circuit.
Vehicle Model Land Rover Defender up to 2016
Fitment Notes DEFENDER (PUMA) 2007-2016 — 2.2D / 2.4D. Exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor, PRE-CATALYST position. Orange connector; Stage V Plus DPF. Front pipe and catalyst. Fits 90", 110" and 130" wheelbase, from (V)CA000001.

Frequently asked questions

What does the pre-cat exhaust gas temperature sensor do?
The pre-catalyst exhaust gas temperature (EGT) sensor measures exhaust temperature before the catalyst on the 2.2 and 2.4 diesel Defender. The ECU uses it to protect the DPF and catalyst. It fits the Defender up to 2016 (Puma).
How do I know this is the pre-catalyst sensor and not another EGT sensor?
This is the PRE-catalyst EGT sensor, identified by its orange connector and its position on the front pipe before the catalyst. Match the pre-cat location and connector colour, as post-cat sensors are not interchangeable.
Which Defenders does this EGT sensor fit?
This EGT sensor fits the 2.2D and 2.4D Puma Defender up to 2016, in 90, 110 and 130 wheelbase, from VIN CA000001. It's used with the Stage V Plus DPF system.
What are the signs the EGT sensor needs replacing?
A failing EGT sensor usually triggers an engine warning light, DPF-related fault codes, or limp mode on the Puma diesel. Replacing the sensor restores accurate exhaust temperature readings and correct DPF regeneration.
