Power Transfer Unit is a driveline assembly, also known as the front axle case, in the transverse-engine all-wheel-drive system.

Bolted to the transaxle, it takes drive from the front differential and turns it through 90 degrees to the rear propshaft, transmitting torque rearward to the rear differential. It forms the front end of the on-demand all-wheel-drive driveline.
