What does the coolant expansion tank do on a Discovery Sport or Evoque?
The coolant expansion tank holds the system's spare coolant and gives it somewhere to go as it heats and expands. It also separates air out of the cooling circuit and acts as the fill point. The pressure cap sets the operating pressure of the cooling system.
Where is the expansion tank fitted on the Discovery Sport L550?
The expansion tank sits in the engine bay, typically mounted to one side of the radiator and connected into the cooling circuit by hoses. On the Discovery Sport L550 and Range Rover Evoque L538 it's the reservoir you top the coolant up through.
What are the signs an expansion tank needs replacing?
