What is this coated brake disc and what does it do?

This is the coated rear brake disc for the Discovery Sport (2015 on). It rotates with the wheel hub and provides the friction surface the pads clamp against, and it carries a protective anti-corrosion coating. Supplied individually.

What does the coating do?

The coating protects the hub face and outer edges against corrosion and wears clear of the braking surface in use. It keeps the non-swept areas of the disc looking clean and resisting rust, which is useful on open alloy wheels.

How many discs do I need?

Two are fitted per vehicle, one each side of the rear axle. This disc is supplied singly, so order two to do the full rear axle.

What are the signs the rear discs need replacing?

Rear discs typically need replacing when the face shows grooving or a wear lip, vibration under braking, or the disc is worn thin. Replace the rear discs as a pair.
