Engine Cooling Fan Motor The electric motor that drives the engine cooling fan within the radiator cooling assembly.

It draws air through the radiator and air-conditioning condenser to regulate coolant temperature under high engine load and at low road speeds, where natural airflow through the grille is insufficient. The motor mounts to the fan shroud and carries the cooling fan on its output shaft, running under control of the engine management system.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Engine Cooling Fan Motor do?
The Engine Cooling Fan Motor drives the radiator cooling fan, pulling air through the radiator and air-conditioning condenser to control coolant temperature. It typically works hardest at low road speeds and under high engine load, when airflow through the grille isn't enough. The motor mounts to the fan shroud and runs under engine management control.
Where is the cooling fan motor located on a Range Rover L405?
The cooling fan motor sits at the front of the engine bay, mounted to the fan shroud behind the radiator on the Range Rover L405 and Range Rover Sport L494. It carries the cooling fan on its output shaft and draws air through the radiator and air-conditioning condenser.
Which vehicles does part LR084439LR fit?
Part LR084439LR fits the Range Rover L405 (2013-2022) and Range Rover Sport L494 (2014-2022), typically with the 3.0L V6 diesel or 4.4L V8 diesel engine. Use your VIN to confirm the exact engine and build variant before ordering.
What are the signs the cooling fan motor needs replacing?
Signs of a failing cooling fan motor typically include the fan not spinning, running intermittently, or becoming noisy, often with engine temperature climbing in traffic. A worn motor can also draw excess current. If it stops, the engine can overheat at low speeds, so it's usually replaced once the fault is confirmed.
