Stud for the exhaust manifold and turbocharger mounting joints.

Locates and retains the manifold-to-cylinder-head and turbocharger-to-manifold joints, holding the clamping load through repeated heat cycling. Studs in this position work-harden and thin over their working life, and the threads are frequently damaged during removal, so renewal is normal practice whenever the manifold or the turbocharger is taken off.

Fit with clean, dry threads and tighten in the specified sequence so the gasket loads evenly. Where several studs in a joint have been disturbed, replace them as a set rather than individually.
