Exhaust Valve for the cylinder head of the 2.4 Td4 diesel.

Seals the exhaust port against combustion pressure and releases the spent gases into the exhaust manifold, running against a hardened seat insert and carried by the valve guide in the head. Exhaust valves run considerably hotter than their inlet counterparts and shed most of that heat through the seat contact face, so seat recession, stem wear and a burnt sealing face are the usual reasons for renewal.

On fitting, the seat should be cut or lapped to give the correct contact width and the installed valve height checked against specification. Renew the valve stem oil seal at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the LR113693 exhaust valve for?
The LR113693 is a cylinder head exhaust valve for the 2.4 Td4 (Puma) diesel engine. It seals the exhaust port against combustion pressure and releases spent gases into the manifold, running against a hardened seat and carried by the valve guide in the head.
Why do exhaust valves fail on the 2.4 Td4?
Exhaust valves fail because they run much hotter than inlet valves and shed most of that heat through the seat contact face. On the 2.4 Td4 the usual reasons for renewal are seat recession, stem wear and a burnt sealing face, which show as low compression or poor running.
Which Defender does this exhaust valve fit?
This exhaust valve fits the Land Rover Defender with the 2.4 Td4 (Puma) diesel engine, from 2007. It's specific to that cylinder head, so confirm your engine is the 2.4 Td4 rather than the earlier Td5 before ordering.
