Shock Absorber - Rear Right-Hand for vehicles fitted with the Magnetic Damping System, part of the rear suspension damping assembly.

It mounts between the rear suspension arm and the body mounting point and works with the road spring to control body movement, damp wheel oscillation and maintain tyre contact with the road surface.

Unlike a passive damper it is electronically controlled: an integral connector links it into the adaptive damping circuit, allowing the suspension control module to vary damping rate continuously in response to road surface and driver inputs. A fault in the unit or its wiring will normally raise a suspension warning message.

Dampers are replaced in axle pairs so that left and right damping characteristics stay matched; the corresponding left-hand unit is LR124717.
