Timing Chain for the timing drive of the 2.0L Ingenium four-cylinder diesel engine (AJ200D / AJ20D4).

This is the lower, primary chain of the two-stage timing drive: it takes drive from the crankshaft sprocket and passes it to the upper section of the drive that turns the camshafts. The chain runs against fixed and pivoting guides under tension from a hydraulic tensioner, so chain, guides and tensioner wear together as a set. A stretched chain typically announces itself as a rattle from the front of the engine on a cold start, and left unattended will drift the valve timing far enough to log correlation faults.

Supplied as the chain only. Guides, tensioner and sprockets are separate parts and are normally renewed at the same time.
