Genuine: Original manufacturer part.
This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.
Steering Column Shaft - the intermediate shaft of the steering column assembly, transmitting driver input from the lower end of the steering column to the input pinion of the steering gear.
A universal joint at each end allows the shaft to run through the offset and angle between the column outlet and the steering gear input, so that column position and steering gear position do not have to be in line. Wear in these joints is felt at the steering wheel as knock over rough surfaces, a notchy feel on turn-in, or free play at the rim.

This is a safety-critical steering component. Fit with new pinch bolts where specified, align the joint clamps fully onto the splines before tightening, and torque to specification.
