The compressor draws in ambient air, compresses it, and delivers it through the integral air drier to the valve block, which distributes it to the reservoir and to the four air springs. It raises the vehicle to the selected ride height and restores system pressure after it bleeds down, operating under command of the air suspension control module.

Worn piston seals and saturated drier desiccant reduce output. Typical symptoms are slow raising, the vehicle sitting low after standing, and compressor run-time faults logged by the control module.
