Lambda Sensor - oxygen sensor for the lower, post-catalyst position on the exhaust front pipe, part of the engine management and emissions control system.
Mounted downstream of the catalytic converter, the sensor measures residual oxygen in the exhaust gas and reports it to the engine control module. The module compares this against the upstream sensor signal to assess catalyst conversion efficiency and to correct long-term fuel trim. Fitted to the 2.0L I4 AJ200 petrol engine in mid and high output form.
A degraded sensor commonly presents as an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp with an emissions or catalyst-efficiency fault code.
