Rear Shock Absorber with CVD (Continuously Variable Damping), part of the rear suspension damper assembly on standard-duty coil-sprung applications.

The damper mounts between the rear suspension arm and the body mounting turret and controls spring oscillation and wheel movement, keeping the tyre loaded over uneven surfaces and limiting body float and pitch.

A solenoid valve integrated into the damper varies the hydraulic restriction inside the body in response to the adaptive dynamics control module, so the damping rate adapts continuously to road surface, load and driver input. The electrical connector at the damper must be reconnected on fitting for the system to operate.
