Shock Absorber - front left-hand damper within the front suspension strut assembly.

The damper locates between the front lower control arm and the body-side turret, damping spring oscillation and controlling wheel movement over the front axle. This is the Continuously Variable Damping (CVD) specification: the unit carries an electrically actuated valve that the suspension control module regulates while the vehicle is moving, varying damping force with road input and the selected drive mode. It connects to the vehicle harness, and is the variant used on vehicles built without Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE). A passive damper without the CVD valve is not an alternative.

Supplied as a single damper. Dampers are best renewed in axle pairs so that left and right damping characteristics stay matched.
