Brake Pad Set - Rear - friction pad set for the rear brake discs and calipers assembly, supplied as a complete axle set covering both rear wheels.

The pads locate in the rear caliper carrier and are clamped against the brake disc by the caliper piston, converting disc rotation into braking torque at the rear axle.

Pads should be renewed as an axle set so that braking effort stays balanced from side to side. Inspect the disc friction faces for scoring or lipping and check that the caliper guide pins move freely before fitting. On vehicles with an electronic parking brake, place the rear caliper actuators in service mode before retracting the pistons.

Frequently asked questions

What is this rear brake pad set?
This is a rear axle brake pad set supplied complete for both rear wheels, with the retaining clips included. The pads locate in the rear caliper carriers and are clamped against the rear discs by the caliper pistons to produce braking torque at the rear axle.
Which vehicles take this rear pad set?
This rear pad set fits the front 19 / rear 19-inch brake package on the Discovery 5 2017+ (from VIN K2000001), New Defender L663 2020+, Range Rover L405 2013-2022 (from VIN GA285153) and Range Rover Sport L494 2014-2022 (from VIN GA652129). Confirm your caliper size and VIN.
Are the retaining clips included?
Yes, this set is supplied as an axle set with clips, so the pad retaining hardware is in the box. The pads should still be renewed as a complete axle set, both sides together, so braking effort stays balanced from side to side.
What should I do before fitting on an electric park brake?
On vehicles with an electronic parking brake, put the rear calipers into service mode with a diagnostic tool before winding back the pistons. Skipping this can damage the park-brake actuator. Also check the guide pins move freely and inspect the discs before fitting.
Why do rear brake pads need replacing?
Rear brake pads are replaced once the friction material wears down, which shows as reduced braking, noise, or a wear warning. On these models the rear pads also carry park-brake clamp load, so worn rear pads can weaken parking-brake hold as well as service braking.
