The sensor measures the residual oxygen content of the exhaust stream and reports it to the engine control module, which uses the signal to trim fuelling, assess combustion efficiency and manage particulate filter regeneration. Applies to the 2.0L four-cylinder Ingenium diesel (AJ200 / AJ20D4).

Sensor output degrades gradually through contamination and thermal cycling. A deteriorating sensor typically presents as a stored emissions fault code, raised fuel consumption, or regeneration cycles that fail to complete.
