Oxygen Sensor - exhaust and emission control system, 2.0L engine.

The sensor threads into the exhaust front pipe at the catalytic converter, in the lower (downstream) position. It measures residual oxygen in the exhaust gas and reports it to the engine control module, which uses the signal to monitor catalyst conversion efficiency and to correct the fuelling set by the upstream closed-loop control.

The sensor thread and its mating boss must be clean before fitting, and no assembly compound should be allowed to reach the sensing element.
