High Voltage Water Heater for plug-in hybrid (PHEV) applications, operating in the high-voltage coolant heating circuit.

The unit heats engine coolant electrically using power drawn from the high-voltage traction battery, and feeds that heated coolant into the heater matrix circuit. This makes cabin heating available when the combustion engine is shut down under electric drive or has not yet reached operating temperature, and brings the coolant loop up to temperature without relying on engine waste heat.

Note: this is a high-voltage component. The vehicle's high-voltage system must be isolated and proven dead by a suitably qualified technician before removal or installation.
