Rear Brake Disc - Coated - a vented rear-axle brake rotor forming part of the rear disc-brake assembly.
The disc is bolted to and rotates with the rear wheel hub. Under braking the caliper presses the brake pads against both friction faces, converting the vehicle's momentum into heat. Its internally vented construction places cooling vanes between the two faces, drawing air through the rotor to dissipate that heat and resist brake fade during sustained or heavy braking.
A protective coating covers the disc to resist corrosion on the centre hat, edges and cooling vanes; the coating on the swept friction faces wears away during initial bedding-in.
