Brand Denso
Lambda Sensor - Rear (post-catalyst oxygen sensor) for the exhaust and engine management system of the 4.2L V8 Supercharged and 4.4L V8 petrol engines.

The sensor mounts in the front pipe and catalyst assembly, downstream of the catalytic converter. Unlike the pre-catalyst sensor it does not trim fuelling directly: the engine control module compares its output against the upstream sensor to assess catalyst conversion efficiency and to set the associated emissions monitor.

The unit is heated so that monitoring becomes active shortly after a cold start. It is not serviceable and is replaced complete.

Frequently asked questions

What does the rear lambda sensor do?
The rear lambda (oxygen) sensor sits after the catalytic converter and monitors how well the catalyst is working, feeding the ECU for emissions control. On the Range Rover L322 4.2 V8 supercharged and 4.4 V8 AJ petrol it's the post-cat monitoring sensor rather than the main fuelling sensor.
Which Range Rover does this rear lambda sensor fit?
This rear lambda sensor fits the Range Rover L322 (2002-2009) with the 4.2L V8 supercharged and 4.4L V8 AJ petrol engines. It mounts on the front pipe and catalyst section. Part number MHK500870.
How do I confirm this fits my L322 by VIN?
This sensor covers VIN range 6A000001 to 6A999999, with rest-of-world fitment from VIN 7A000001. Because the L322 had running changes, check your VIN against these ranges before ordering to confirm the correct rear lambda sensor.
