Crankshaft Position Sensor for the 4.4L V8 BMW M62 B44 petrol engine, part of the engine management sensor group.
The sensor reads the toothed reluctor on the crankshaft and reports crank angle and engine speed to the engine control module, which uses that signal as the primary timing reference for ignition and fuel injection. A failed sensor typically shows as a crank-no-start condition, intermittent stalling, or an erratic tachometer reading.
