Intermediate Exhaust Heat Shield - heat shield for the intermediate section of the exhaust system.

It mounts between the exhaust pipework and the vehicle floor, reflecting radiated heat away from the underbody and away from the fuel and brake lines routed nearby. Listed for V8 petrol installations, with or without catalytic converter.

A shield that has corroded through or broken away from its mountings no longer protects the floor and will rattle against the body; replacement is preferable to removal.
