Oil Cooler Hose - oil cooler to filter housing, part of the engine oil cooling circuit.
This flexible line carries pressurised engine oil between the block-mounted oil filter housing and the oil cooler matrix. It runs at full oil-pump pressure and sits in the hot under-bonnet area, so the reinforced rubber hardens and crazes with age; a weeping or split hose loses oil pressure and deposits oil onto the components beneath it. Fitted to diesel applications.
Renew the union seals when refitting, and check and top up the engine oil once the cooler circuit has been closed again.
