Viscous Fan Assembly for the engine cooling circuit, driven from the water pump pulley and drawing air through the radiator core.

The viscous coupling (fan drive) modulates fan speed with under-bonnet temperature, engaging the blades when cooling demand rises and freewheeling when it falls to reduce parasitic drag and noise. Fitted to the 2.5L 6-cylinder BMW turbo diesel engine.

Supplied as a complete assembly including the viscous fan drive.
Vehicle Model Range Rover Classic 1994-2001 (P38)
Fitment Notes RANGE ROVER P38 1994-2001 — 2.5L 6-cylinder BMW diesel. Includes fan drive.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PGG101290G viscous fan assembly for?
The PGG101290G viscous fan assembly draws air through the radiator on the Range Rover P38 2.5L six-cylinder BMW diesel. Driven from the water pump pulley, its viscous coupling modulates fan speed with under-bonnet temperature, engaging the blades when cooling demand rises and freewheeling when it falls.
Does this include the viscous fan drive or just the blades?
This is supplied as a complete assembly including the viscous fan drive, not just the fan blades. So you get the coupling and fan together as one unit, which saves sourcing the fan drive separately. Check whether your repair needs the whole assembly or only one part.
Which Range Rover does this viscous fan fit?
This viscous fan assembly fits the Range Rover P38 (1994-2001) with the 2.5 litre six-cylinder BMW turbo diesel engine. Confirm your P38 has the BMW diesel rather than a V8 petrol before ordering, as the petrol engines use a different cooling arrangement.
What are the signs a viscous fan needs replacing?
Signs a viscous fan needs replacing include engine temperatures climbing in slow traffic, which points to a coupling that no longer engages the blades. A coupling that has seized the other way runs the fan constantly, giving a persistent roar and sapping power. Both mean the drive has worn out.
