Genuine: Original manufacturer part.
This product is the original part designed and produced by the vehicle manufacturer.
Radiator Fan Cowl - the upper section of the cooling fan shroud in the engine cooling pack, sitting between the top of the radiator and the engine-driven cooling fan.
The cowl closes off the gap between the radiator core and the fan so that the fan draws its air through the radiator matrix rather than recirculating hot air from behind it. It locates the fan concentrically and maintains the correct blade-to-core clearance, which is what keeps airflow effective at idle and at low road speeds when there is little ram air entering the front of the vehicle.
The moulded plastic becomes brittle with age and heat cycling; cracks around the mounting tabs and along the joint with the lower shroud are the common failure, after which the cowl can foul the fan blades. The upper cowl fits together with the lower fan shroud PGK500480 to form the complete fan housing.
