Air Cleaner Lid - the upper cover of the air cleaner assembly in the induction system, clamping over the filter element and sealing the filter housing.

The lid holds the element against its seat in the housing and forms the outlet side of the air cleaner box, passing the filtered air onward through the induction duct to the turbocharger inlet. Its seal is what guarantees that every bit of air reaching the turbocharger has passed through the filter medium. Fitted to the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel.

The lid is a routine replacement item because the plastic becomes brittle with heat and age: broken clip lugs and cracks around the outlet spigot admit unfiltered air into the induction tract, which is particularly damaging with a turbocharger downstream.
