Piston Ring Set for the 2.5 four-cylinder turbo diesel, forming part of the piston and connecting rod assembly.
The ring pack seals the combustion chamber against the cylinder bore, carries heat out of the piston crown into the bore wall, and meters the oil film left on the liner on each stroke. Ring condition directly governs compression, blow-by into the crankcase and oil consumption, which is why the rings are renewed as a matter of course whenever the pistons are disturbed.
Supplied in standard size, for a bore still within standard tolerance rather than rebored oversize. Ring end gaps and groove side clearances should be measured against the engine specification before assembly.
