Hydraulic Tappet Assembly for the cylinder head valvetrain of the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine range, forming the mechanical interface between the camshaft and the inlet and exhaust valves.
The assembly comprises the tappet sleeve, slide, guide, locating bolt and washer, which together position and guide the tappet within the cylinder head so that valve lift and timing geometry are held to specification. Eight assemblies are required to renew a complete set on one engine.
Wear or damage to the sleeve or guide affects valve clearance and timing, producing valvetrain noise and accelerating wear on adjacent components. Replacing the complete assembly restores the interface to its original specification rather than masking wear through clearance adjustment.
