Brake Limiting Valve - hydraulic pressure-limiting valve in the brake pipe run, fitted only to vehicles built without an anti-lock braking system.

Once hydraulic pressure reaches the valve's threshold, the valve caps the pressure passed downstream of it. This apportions braking effort so that a lightly loaded wheel does not lock ahead of the others under heavy braking. On vehicles equipped with ABS the valve is not used, because the ABS modulator performs the same apportioning function electronically.

Replace if the valve leaks at its unions or body, or if braking balance is affected. The circuit must be bled after fitting.
