Rear Shock Absorber - Heavy Duty - hydraulic telescopic damper for the rear coil-sprung suspension, mounted between the axle bracket and the chassis mounting turret.
The damper controls spring oscillation after the coil spring is deflected, keeping the tyre in contact with the road surface and limiting axle movement under load. The heavy-duty specification uses a firmer damping rate intended for sustained high payload and load-carrying use.
One damper is fitted per side, two per vehicle; replacing both sides together keeps damping rates matched across the axle.
