Fuel Injector and Sensor Assembly for the 2.5L six-cylinder M51 turbo diesel, part of the diesel fuel injection circuit.

The assembly is supplied as the injector nozzle and holder complete with its integral needle-lift sensor and flylead. The sensor signals the point at which the injector needle lifts, giving the engine management system its injection-timing reference. The injector mounts into the cylinder head and is fed by the high-pressure delivery pipe from the injection pump.

Frequently asked questions

What is the STC4218 injector assembly?
The STC4218 is the injector nozzle and holder for the 2.5L six-cylinder M51 turbo diesel, supplied complete with its integral needle-lift sensor and flylead. It mounts in the cylinder head and is fed by the high-pressure delivery pipe.
What does the needle-lift sensor do?
The needle-lift sensor signals the point at which the injector needle lifts, giving the engine management system its injection-timing reference. That's why this injector carries an integral sensor and flylead.
Should the injectors be replaced as a set?
Injectors are typically renewed as a set so fuel delivery stays balanced across all cylinders. Replacing a single injector can leave delivery uneven between cylinders.
Which vehicle does the STC4218 fit?
It fits the Range Rover P38 (1994-2001) with the 2.5L six-cylinder BMW M51 diesel engine.
