Brand Pro-Flow
Water Pump for the 3.5L V8 petrol engine, part of the engine cooling circuit.

Mounted to the front timing cover and belt-driven from the crankshaft pulley, the pump circulates coolant through the block and cylinder heads and on to the radiator whenever the engine is turning. A worn bearing, a weeping shaft seal or an eroded impeller reduces circulation and leads to overheating.

The mounting gasket is renewed and the system refilled with fresh coolant when the pump is fitted.

Frequently asked questions

What does the STC486P water pump do?
The STC486P water pump circulates coolant through the 3.5 V8 petrol engine and radiator to keep it at operating temperature. It's belt-driven off the front of the engine and moves coolant whenever the engine runs. A working pump is essential to prevent overheating.
Which vehicles does this 3.5 V8 water pump fit?
This water pump fits 3.5 V8 petrol engines, including the Range Rover Classic (1981-1985) and early V8 Defender applications. It's specific to the 3.5 litre V8, so confirm your engine size before ordering.
Why do water pumps fail on V8 Land Rovers?
Water pumps typically fail when the bearing wears or the internal seal leaks, showing up as coolant weeping from the pump, a bearing whine, or overheating. A failing pump can lose coolant flow and cause engine damage. Replacing it during a timing or coolant service is common practice.
