Centre Differential Assembly for the LT230 transfer box.

The centre differential sits between the transfer box high/low range gears and the front and rear output shafts. It divides drive between the two axles while allowing them to turn at different speeds, which is what permits permanent four-wheel drive to be used on hard surfaces without transmission wind-up. The assembly incorporates the differential lock mechanism, which couples the two outputs together for traction on loose or slippery ground.

Supplied as a built-up assembly for installation into the transfer box casing during overhaul, or as a replacement where the differential gears, the lock dog clutch or the centre differential bearings have worn or failed.
