Heavy Duty Rear Half Shaft Set - a pair of 24 spline rear axle shafts, supplied in the two lengths needed to build one axle: 698mm and 964.5mm.

The half shafts carry drive from the rear differential side gears out to the hub drive flanges, and are the component most exposed to shock loading when traction is suddenly regained. Larger tyre diameters, raised engine output and locking differentials all increase the peak torque a shaft has to survive.

Because the axle casing leaves no room to increase shaft diameter, the strength gain comes from material and process instead: the shafts are machined from SAE4340 nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel and put through a three-stage heat treatment. The resulting combination of strength and elasticity lets the shaft absorb shock loading rather than transmit it into the differential and transfer box.

Direct replacement for the original shafts and suitable for 24 spline differentials. Rated for a maximum tyre diameter of 35".
