Brand Terrafirma
Heavy Duty Rear Half Shafts - uprated rear axle shafts for the Salisbury rear axle in the disc-brake configuration.

The shafts transmit drive from the rear differential to the wheel hubs and are a direct replacement for the standard shafts. They suit 24-spline differentials.

Manufactured from SAE4340 nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel and put through a three-stage heat treatment, combining high torque capacity with the elasticity needed to absorb shock loading in the shaft rather than passing it into the differential and transfer box.

Supplied as a pair, comprising one 636 mm and one 956 mm shaft.
Vehicle Model Land Rover Defender up to 2016
Fitment Notes DEFENDER 110/130 1994-2002 — Rear HD half shafts (Terrafirma uprated, KAM207/204). Fits Salisbury axle with disc brakes only.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Salisbury axle Rear Half Shaft?
The Rear Half Shaft for the Salisbury axle is an uprated 24-spline shaft that transmits drive from the rear differential to the wheel hubs. It's a direct replacement for the standard shaft on the Land Rover Defender 110 and 130.
Which axle and vehicles do these fit?
These shafts fit the Land Rover Defender 110 and 130 from 1994 to 2002, but only the Salisbury rear axle in the disc-brake configuration. If your vehicle has a different rear axle, they won't be the right shafts, so confirm the axle type first.
What makes these stronger than standard shafts?
They're made from SAE4340 nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel with a three-stage heat treatment, which is why they handle shock loading better than standard shafts. That shock loading, when a spinning wheel suddenly grips, is the usual cause of half shaft failure.
Should I replace both sides together?
The shafts suit 24-spline differentials and replacing both sides together is normal practice. Both shafts see the same loads, so a single new shaft leaves the older one as the weak point on the axle.
