Propshaft Carrier Bearing - Rear supports the rear propeller shaft at its intermediate mounting point in the driveline.

The bearing runs on the shaft between its two sections and is held in a rubber-insulated carrier bolted to the chassis crossmember. It locates the shaft, absorbs driveline vibration and isolates it from the body structure. The rubber insulator perishes and softens with age, allowing excessive shaft movement, which shows as vibration and noise under load.

It serves the rear propeller shaft assemblies TVB500400 and LR030049.

Frequently asked questions

What is the TF2428 propshaft carrier bearing?
The TF2428 is a rear propshaft carrier (centre) bearing for the Range Rover L322. It supports the middle of the rear propshaft, letting it spin smoothly while damping vibration between the gearbox and rear axle.
What are the signs the TF2428 carrier bearing needs replacing?
Common signs are a droning or rumbling under the floor that rises with speed, or vibration through the body of a Range Rover L322. A worn centre bearing lets the propshaft whip, so replacing the TF2428 restores smooth drive.
Is replacing the TF2428 a DIY job?
Replacing the TF2428 typically means dropping the rear propshaft, which needs axle stands and basic tools but is doable at home for a competent DIYer on a Range Rover L322. Mark the propshaft flanges before removal to keep the balance.
