The magnetised tip retains nuts, bolts, washers and clips, allowing a fastener to be started in a recess or blind hole that cannot be reached with a hand or socket, and recovers dropped ferrous parts from awkward cavities. Because the magnet sits at the fingertip, the thumb and middle finger stay free to position and start the fastener.
