Damper Rod - replacement 12" shaft for the 2.5" smooth-body competition damper (TF488), supplied as a rebuild service part.

The rod carries the piston inside the monotube body and passes out through the rod guide and seal at the lower end of the damper. It is hard chrome-plated, since the plated surface is what the seal runs against: a rod that has been scored or pitted by grit will bleed fluid past the seal and lose damping, and is renewed as part of a damper rebuild.
